This course stems from the continuous evolution of interventional techniques in breast care, which now make it possible — thanks to increasingly advanced devices such as fine needles and fibers — to treat, remove, or ablate selected breast lesions through minimally invasive, non-surgical approaches.
The main focus of the course is to define the decision-making pathway for percutaneous treatment of B3 lesions using VAE (vacuum-assisted excision) under tomographic or ultrasound guidance. The course will also explore the use of cryoablation for benign lesions (such as fibroadenomas) and low-grade tumors in patients who are not eligible for surgery due to comorbidities or by personal choice.
The first day will be dedicated to the theoretical session, including presentations from leading national and European breast centers and discussion of relevant clinical cases. The day will also feature a hands-on session on phantoms, allowing participants to practice and become familiar with the techniques and devices in a simulated environment. The second day will focus entirely on practical activities: participants will take part in the viewing of procedural videos and live demonstrations of percutaneous treatments, including tomographic/ultrasound-guided VAE and cryoablation of selected breast lesions.
